Description

I thought I would try my Tele Vue 2x Powermate out on the Moon. I wasn't sure how to set up the train on my ES127 because I couldn't find any setups online so it was just guesswork. At first I had one 1.5" ES spacer after the focuser, then the powermate, then 59mm of adapters and spacers between that and the camera. Even though I was sure the telescope was pointing at the moon, focus could not be found even after an hour of adding and subtracting T48 spacers so I ended up taking the camera off and placing a sheet of paper behind the telescope to find the focal point. Found it! Two feet past where I had installed the camera!

So I installed a second 1.5" ES spacer in front of the Powermate and checked the focal point.
Closer, now just 12" out so I added a third 1.5" ES spacer and focus was finally at the camera sensor. The focuser was also racked out to 40mm. It took about 1.5 hours to get the focal point to the camera before I could begin shooting.

Original Version is a pic of the telescope train just in case anyone needs to know. Here is the breakdown:

ES127 > focuser @40mm > 3-1.5" ES spacers > 2" ES nosepiece > Powermate > 2" nosepiece with T48 >
T48 Rotator > 30mm T48 spacers > T48-T42 adapter > ZWO 10mm camera spacer > Camera

It was 265mm from the back of the focuser to the Camera plus the 40mm on the focuser.

No filters.

Thanks, Eddie
